Sydney Khando is the Senior Programme Manager Agriculture Livelihoods for the Catholic Relief Services Malawi Country Programme. As a holder of Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Agriculture from the University of Malawi, he has worked in various capacities in the Agricultural Sector in Sothern Africa both in Malawi and in South Africa. Other than the Bachelor of Science Agriculture he has other post graduate certificates in project management and analysis. for the past 27 years he has worked in the agricultural sector starting from crop research where he worked as an agronomist to market and agro enterprise development working with a number of interventions dealing with smallholder farmers development. from 2011 he joined the Catholic Relief Services in Malawi from Farmers Union of Malawi and has been working on agro-enterprise development programmes. in 2012, he started working with CRS Five Skills Set and Business planner implementing this tool in several agro-enterprise projects in Malawi. Before joining the Farmers Union of Malawi I worked as the Business Development Officer for the Malawi Agriculture Commodity Exchange where I implemented a market information system for disseminating market information and developing trade linkages for smallholder farmers. The work I have done since 2011 in CRS has been mainly on agro enterprise development and in a number of interventions have used business planner as a tool to implement agro-enterprise activities amongst smallholder farmers.
