Mwambu Wanendeya serves as ONE’s Africa Executive Director. Prior to joining ONE he had leadership positions in finance and telecommunications for ten years leading global and regional teams responsible for brand, marketing, communications and corporate social responsibility for listed global companies. In that capacity he worked on award winning global campaigns for major international music events such as the Nelson Mandela’s 90 and 91st birthday celebrations and the MTV Africa music awards. He also created one of Africa’s most popular television shows, which was broadcast for four years on satellite and terrestrial television. He has led teams which have promoted the use of new technology to change lives in different ways from uniting refugees with their families to sending mobile payments across borders or educating remote communities. Mwambu worked for the Commonwealth Secretariat in London for 9 years as a communications adviser and in that time participated in missions to Fiji, Guyana, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe. His time at the Commonwealth was preceded by a career as a journalist for the BBC and The Sunday Times (UK). Mwambu received his B.Eng from Imperial College, University of London.
