The annual ICT4D Conferences have proven to be an invaluable opportunity for NGOs, private sector organizations, universities, governmental agencies and foundations to share their experience in using ICT to increase the impact of development programs and to learn from each other.  In 2016, 715 individuals from 76 countries and 301 private sector and public sector and civil society explored the ways to harness the full power of digital solutions to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.  Our thanks to Accenture, Catholic Relief Services, Esri, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, iMerit Technology Services, Inmarsat, IS Solutions, Making All Voices Count, Mercy Corps, Microsoft, NetHope, Oxfam, Pandexio, Qualcom Wireless Reach, RTI International, SimbaNet and World Vision for making that possible.

CRS - ICT4D Innovation - eValuate and Farmbook

eValuate is CRS' digital platform for collecting, managing and analyzing data on monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL). The platform uses ICT4D tools (including mobile devices, electronic data collection and integrated reporting) to achieve better MEAL. By using standardized yet flexible ICT4D tools, e-Valuate offers many advantages for MEAL:

  • Easier and more accurate data collection,
  • Better efficiency for MEAL data collection and reporting,
  • More transparency and accountability,
  • Better tools for decision making and service delivery,
  • Easier performance tracking across projects, countries and regions.

Farmbook is a field-based application that enables field agents to help farmers plan their farm businesses more effectively and evaluate their productivity and profitability.  The system also helps to manage field agents. It supports the needs of remote field agents in the task of sharing their data with project managers. The Farmbook application has six basic functions:

  • Register people into households,
  • Register farmers into farmer groups,
  • Enable farmers to run profitability analyses for specific products,
  • Enable farmer groups to develop business plans,
  • Supports crop production scheduling,
  • Allow field agents to record farm visits, training given and assets transferred.
