The annual ICT4D Conferences have proven to be an invaluable opportunity for NGOs, private sector organizations, universities, governmental agencies and foundations to share their experience in using ICT to increase the impact of development programs and to learn from each other.  In 2016, 715 individuals from 76 countries and 301 private sector and public sector and civil society explored the ways to harness the full power of digital solutions to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.  Our thanks to Accenture, Catholic Relief Services, Esri, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, iMerit Technology Services, Inmarsat, IS Solutions, Making All Voices Count, Mercy Corps, Microsoft, NetHope, Oxfam, Pandexio, Qualcom Wireless Reach, RTI International, SimbaNet and World Vision for making that possible.

These are simple maps that were analyzed based on each household's interview regarding their flood level and water table. Each household were asked regarding where they want to construct their latrines in which questions regarding water table and flood level of the area were asked as well. With the GPS points collected, we used the interpolation analysis, to analyze spatially distributed GPS points and check their correlation with their nearest neighbor. For example, if the flood level on one side of the street is high, we can predict with a high level of confidence that the flood level on the other side of the street is also high. Also these maps made it easier to assess the area if we see a continuous layer of data rather than points. It's easier to conclude which areas have high water table and flood level.

The maps helped us in considering the water level/environmental conditions for toilet and septic tank design ahead of time. It is one of the best approach we can use because it was hassle‑free and there were fewer delays due to the procurement of materials since we already know what type of toilet are we constructing in each areas depending on the water table and flood level map.

Community members appreciated the type of approach because they learned new skills on how to consider the water table and flood level in proper toilet construction, they felt more empowered as a result and they became more aware on the importance of proper sanitation.
